The technical info

  • What are they?

Our shade sails are panels made from an advanced, high tech and stretchy fabric. They loosely resemble boat sails and are placed side by side to provide shade, sculptural interest and ambience. They are 100% machine washable, a massive plus for keeping your sails looking fresh and clean.

  • How do they work?

Our shade sails are stitched with a beautiful hemmed perimeter and re-enforced loops, at each corner. They can then be fixed into place using our simple, unique fixing system. They are designed to be easy to fit, unobtrusive and removable. Once fixed, they form a clean, wrinkle free panel.

  • What do they do?

Our sail shades massively reduce glare and shield away over 60% of solar energy. They reduce harmful UVB radiation which will help protect delicate skin and furnishings. They transform the look of your space and add colour, ambience and acoustic benefit to any room. Without, reducing natural light.

  • Are they affordable?

Unlike many new products our sails are surprisingly affordable! Our prices start from £129.00 + VAT for our “Manta” sail and generally a fully designed, multi sail system will cost under £1000 (for the average size room 4m x 3m with up to six sails). Comfortably less, than traditional systems.

  • Ecological?

Our EcoShade is made from recycled industrial waste and recycled consumer plastic bottles. All EcoShades are currently available in white. However keep in touch for new colour releases.

You may wish to read the technical document below regarding the standard fabric and its washability as this has eco relevance. All of our shade sails are 100% made in England allowing us to produce the highest quality products that have been quality tested.

  • Fire Retardant?

Our sail shades are made from a fabric which has inherent fire retardancy. This means that the protection is part of the fabric and NOT added protection. No matter how many times you wash your sails they will always be safe.

Our sails comply to the following Standards:
    BS 5867 part 2 1980 type B (UK)
    B1 (Germany and Europe)

  • Testing

We have thoroughly tested the fabric, the sail and all the fixings rigorously to ensure that they perform as you expect. For example, sail samples have been washed by us over 50 times to ascertain what effect wear, use and washing will have. This includes the strength of stitching and its integrity.

The sail fabric will fade over time in direct sunlight and we cannot accept any liability for this. The sun will fade any product in direct sunlight regardless of its non fading claims. This particular fabric has proven to perform much better than other fabrics in direct sunlight. Any fading that does occur does not detract from the overall appearance.

The company is continuously trying to improve its products. We may change specifications over time and reserve the right to replace goods (when faulty) with the latest specification. Fire testing and colour fastness testing has NOT been carried out by us, but by the manufacturer of the fabric.
